OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

SOPO and our entire staff are responsible for ensuring that liquor is sold and supplied to patrons in a responsible manner.
All staff should be aware of what is expected of them in regards to the laws and the service of alcohol to patrons of the club, as staff can be held liable for offences committed.
 
It is an offense to:
  • Sell liquor to;
  • Supply liquor to; or
  • Allow liquor to be supplied to or consumed by:
 
A PERSON WHO IS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE; or WHO IS UNDULY INTOXICATED OR DISORDERLY
 
There are heavy penalties for committing these offences. 
 
Maximum fines for a licensee/nominee are now $58,900. 
Maximum fines for a staff or licensed premise is $9,424.

SOPO aims to maintain a high standard venue to be enjoyed by members, guests and visitors. We request that the following dress rules be abided by:The following clothing items are not permitted to be worn within the club at any time:

  • Offensive shirts
  • Singlets after 8pm
  • High Vis/Tradie workwear after 6pm
  • Rubber Thongs after 8pm Swimwear
  • Soiled, faded, frayed or torn clothing and shoes

Appearance must be clean, neat and tidy at all times. Obscene or offensive language or clothing will not be tolerated.For identification and security purposes, patrons wearing hats, may be requested to remove same for the aforementioned reasons, once staff/security are satisfied headwear may be put back on.Managements’ decision shall be final in all matters relating to dress and behavior.

RSL CLUB Southport officially rebranded to its new name SOPO, which is a play on words for its location SOuthPOrt. Unlike previous renovations this one helps the club move with the times and the needs of the community and members to wholeheartedly modernise both building, process, areas, menus and everything in between. The School of Arts
School of ABA

The block of land that SOSOPO now sits on what was the home of the “School of Arts” and we proudly continue to bring the musical arts to SOPO in memory of the history and legacy started on this block.

The School of Arts was first erected on the site in 1882 and provided a stage, dressing rooms, splendid library and seating for 200 people.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

SOPO is driven by the people. What makes our club stand out above the rest is that we dedicatedly deliver the ultimate experience, customised to our patron’s individual wants and needs. We don’t just value your input; we rely on it. We welcome you to get involved and help shape the future of SOPO by attending our Annual General Meeting.
 
Taking control of your membership is incredibly important. When it comes to making decisions at the AGM all members must be in attendance to vote. There are no proxy voting.
