OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

SOPO and our entire staff are responsible for ensuring that liquor is sold and supplied to patrons in a responsible manner.
All staff should be aware of what is expected of them in regards to the laws and the service of alcohol to patrons of the club, as staff can be held liable for offences committed.
 
It is an offense to:
  • Sell liquor to;
  • Supply liquor to; or
  • Allow liquor to be supplied to or consumed by:
 
A PERSON WHO IS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE; or WHO IS UNDULY INTOXICATED OR DISORDERLY
 
There are heavy penalties for committing these offences. 
 
Maximum fines for a licensee/nominee are now $58,900. 
Maximum fines for a staff or licensed premise is $9,424.

At SOPO we take our RSA responsibilities very seriously. Every staff member serving alcohol behind the bar has obtained an RSA and is actively practising responsible service.
*No alcohol will be served to patrons under the age of 18
*If a patron is showing signs of intoxication they will be offered a water or refused service and be asked to vacate the premises

MINORS

Minors are permitted to enter the venue if they:
  • Is attending a function e.g. wedding,
  • Is eating a meal on the premises,
  • Is accompanied by a responsible adult,
  • Lives on the premises,
  • Is an employee, or receiving work experience or training.
They are not to consume any alcohol and the guardian will be asked to leave if they are in possession of an alcoholic beverage. Patrons who appear to be under the age of 25 can be asked for ID at any point in the venue.

Proof of Age

PROOF OF IDENTITY

Proof of identity is required for all patrons under the age of 25, or if asked to present one by a staff member or security.
A legal proof of identity in Queensland is a photo ID including a Drivers License, Passport or a Proof of Age Card.
“Key pass” from Victoria is the only approved non-Government issued proof of age card.

Our staff uphold to the Responsible Gaming policy and ensure the correct code of conduct is applied at all times. Our managers complete accredited courses in the operation of machines and responsible gaming.
Gambling responsibly by our patrons ensures that the experience with us is enjoyable for both our staff and you as a patron. If you are excessively gambling talk to our friendly staff about how our self-exclusion deeds and barring procedures. .

  • Training apparel

  • Bike Shorts or Swimwear
  • Torn or untidy tracksuits
  • Torn or dirty joggers
  • Untidiness, faded or frayed clothing
  • No intimidating tattoos
  • Leather Vest, Patches or colours associated with gangs

Appearance must be clean, neat and tidy at all times. Obscene or offensive language or clothing will not be tolerated.For identification and security purposes, patrons wearing hats, may be requested to remove same for the aforementioned reasons, once staff/security are satisfied headwear may be put back on.Managements’ decision shall be final in all matters relating to dress and behaviour.

RSL CLUB Southport Officially Rebranded

RSL CLUB Southport officially rebranded to its new name SOPO, which is a play on words for its location SOuthPOrt. Unlike previous renovations this one helps the club move with the times and the needs of the community and members to wholeheartedly modernise both building, process, areas, menus and everything in between. RSL take control of this block in 1937 and RSL CLUB Southport was born.

1888 SOPO History
The School of Arts

The block of land that SOSOPO now sits on what was the home of the “School of Arts” and we proudly continue to bring the musical arts to SOPO in memory of the history and legacy started on this block.

The School of Arts was first erected on the site in 1882 and provided a stage, dressing rooms, splendid library and seating for 200 people.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

SOPO is driven by the people. What makes our club stand out above the rest is that we dedicatedly deliver the ultimate experience, customised to our patron’s individual wants and needs. We don’t just value your input; we rely on it. We welcome you to get involved and help shape the future of SOPO by attending our Annual General Meeting.
 
Taking control of your membership is incredibly important. When it comes to making decisions at the AGM all members must be in attendance to vote. There are no proxy voting.
